The new little addition to our Home~
Filed Under housemate | 14 Comments
HEAF (my current house’s name) is proud to present new addition to our happy family! Nah, we didn’t get more members, as the current numbers of members are too many to be handled with each has different personality and habits.
I wish it is a dog too, preferably an adorable schnauzer or a strong golden retriever. But with all of us working full time and a tiny compound, it is almost impossible. Plus, with our lazy nature, it’s best to do without one, for the moment at least.
Wise Al understood our personalities well and instead, he got KE a tank of fishes! Yup, 10 little fishes (which looks a little panic all the time, swimming around hysterically, perhaps still am not familiar with the new place) in a little aquarium, with the water filter, light, food and everything it needs. And we put it in the middle of the living room on the cluttered table, making the whole messy room looks more alive and cheery~
The aquarium on a whole. pretty neat, isn't it?
I read somewhere before that it helps to de-stress by looking at the fish tank at near distance with the light off (except for the aquarium light) and watching the fishes swimming around. Good to release stress and promote calming effect. True? I am not too sure but I guess it certainly is a better replacement of Sean’s little fishes (that was named Shark and Jaws in a mini tank but died on the way back to his hometown).
There's 3 type of fishes in the tank.
How fast they swim around! But how nice to watch them~!

The bee & me~
Filed Under train, me | 13 Comments
Ahh… I am back to work after 3 days of rest at home. Feeling a little sluggish, though not too bad as this morning I told myself it is Tuesday and not Monday! So I am not supposed to feel blue, I told my body that. It helps though. Probably I had plenty of sleep yesterday but I couldn’t sleep at night even though I have illegally taken a small cupful of cough syrup, without me coughing! Just a little bit wouldn’t hurt, right? And it would help me to sleep better, no?
I realized that I always have problem sleeping when it was de end of holiday, or when I was too excited/disturbed by something and my mind would start running wild, going through every event of the day and unimportant details. I need something stronger than de cough syrup. Sleeping pill, perhaps? Hmm.. where can I get it, legally?
This morning, while I was in the train, I was almost stung by a bee! Yes, u read it right! There was a lost bee (around one inch in size) in the train, flying around, a little panic looking for a way out. And I wasn’t too worried as it wasn’t really near to me but I kept watching it, feeling a little sorry for that deranged bee. At Masjid Jamek station, a colleague of mine boarded de train and we had a little chat.
Suddenly I felt something trapped on my hair and I heard a buzz. Darn. It was de lost bee on top of my hair and I quickly pulled it out with my left hand, a little too clumsily. And then the bee was on my hand and I shake my hand hard to get it off. But it refused and stick to my fingers and so I used my right hand to knock it off. And it finally flew off with a small little-sting-like-pin on my hand.
It was very small and I guess I wasn’t stung coz not much pain and the bee was still alive, buzzing away. I read somewhere that after the bee sting someone, it will die, but not too sure if it is true. So, after 2 hours, still no pain, so I am okay I suppose. =D
And yeah, all the managers are still not back to the office until tomorrow. *happy*

As usual on Friday, we, the employees, declared long lunches. It is almost a tradition to go somewhere far for lunch by taking the Putra LRT train. So 2 of my colleagues and I decided to hop to KL Central to meet a beloved ex-colleague for lunchie!
In the not-so-packed-but-all-seats-were-taken-train, we stood in the middle, chatting happily. The train stopped at Pasar Seni and a couple of a very old man & lady got into the train. There were 3 seats, one was empty. So the very old lady, sat at the empty seat gratefully. The old man was standing there, hovering around the seat!
The other two seats were taken by a young Chinese lady and a young Malay guy. Both of them saw the old couples but none was budging from their seat!
We were standing nearby and upon seeing their non-reaction, I told my colleague in a rather loud whisper in Chinese, “The man is so old but no one is offering their seat”. My colleague nodded and agreed with me. Then I said, “Now we speak in Malay” (so that the malay guy can understand what we said)!
I guess the Chinese lady heard me and she got up to let the old man sit. But perhaps the old man was losing his patient, ticked off the malay guy. “Ini kerusi bagi orang tua duduk punya (The seat is for old people)” and repeated a few times and pointed to the notice sign that says the seats are for old people and pregnant ladies, while looking at the sheepishly-looking-malay-guy! But the thing was he didn’t even get up and offer his seat!
The old lady then asked the old man to take the young lady seat. Three of us couldn’t help laughing and thank God, our stop was just another station away! And we got down, happy that the young chap got ticked off!
This is definitely not the first time I saw young, healthy people being so selfish they do not offer the seats to those who needs it more! But sometimes, I would be in dilemma whether to offer people my seat. Reason?!? Certainly not because I am selfish. =P
Sometimes I saw lady with a little bulging tummy which I really couldn’t decide whether she is pregnant or not! She could be pregnant for 2 or 3 months OR perhaps she just had a full lunch or maybe need a little exercise. So, a lady (ehem, that’s me) offering another lady a seat when she’s not pregnant will be rather insulting, well, at least to me (it’s like you are so fat that you look pregnant)! No?!?

Eat the bread, hon~
Filed Under housemate, me, life | 17 Comments
I share a loaf of Gardenia bread, most of the time wholemeal bread, with my beloved housemate, SST every week. Reason is there is 14 slices of breads in a pack and I couldn’t finish it within 4 days by myself. If we buy on Sunday night, it can only last till Thursday before it expires.
So we get 7 slices each for a week. So my breakfast is rather predictable as from Mon to Wed/Thurs, I’ll eat bread. Routine. Boring. No choice. But it’s healthy alternatives, which I sometimes make it better with mayonnaise egg or tuna with tomato slices! (must make the night before and keep in refrigerator).
The thing is it is turning me into a naggy-housemate as, well, if you know SST, he is just hmm.. SST. He just couldn’t be bothered, not concern, couldn’t care less about everything and anything! Really! But then… he is a nice fella, always willing to help and rather ‘mild’. Just that you sometimes need to push him a little (when you want him to do something that he might think is unimportant or his memory just fails him to remember). Ok, cannot write too much, he will be reading this post!
Back to the bread story. I realize that I always have to ask him to eat his bread before it expires! I don’t know why it bothers me, but I hate to see his portion of bread expired and thus, wasted in the trash bin. Last Sunday, after I bought the bread, I told him “SST, remember the bread”. He said OK. He didn’t eat the bread.
Monday. SST, tomorrow you eat the bread ok? Ok, he said. But he didn’t eat the bread.
Tuesday. SST, you are taking the bread tomorrow? And he did take 4 slices. *happy* =D
Wednesday. I was already freaking out, as tomorrow was the expired date! And he’ll be flying off to Shanghai on Wed night! And he got 3 more slices to go!
So, when emergency situation like this happen; one day to expiry and there is still breads leftover that I know SST won’t be consuming it, I have to find backup plan! Which means find other housemates like avid-bread-lover Sean or Keone (who can consume the whole pack of bread by alone, without sharing before it expires!) and appeal them to eat it (normally for breakfast). They will only eat it if they're running out of bread, which don't happen all the time!
Sigh.. SST, be good ok? Eat the bread!!!
Ggggrrr…

My Dentist and me~
Filed Under teeth, me, brace | 16 Comments
Yesterday was Dentist-Day again which means my 12th visit to the dentist. I can’t believe that it marks 1 year of me wearing this ugly braces but it makes my teeth prettily straightened now!!! But I am not sure how long I have to wear them as I guess my dentist have no idea as well. Duh..
My dentist, a family man from Hatyai is a rather funny guy, full of nonsense and is in his thirties I guess. He looks younger without his mask but he wears it all the time. He likes to talk to me although it is very hard for me to answer him with my mouth open all the time!
His wife helps him in the clinic sometimes and she is a very fierce-looking-lady who frown all the time! But yesterday, amazingly, she smiled at me, probably she had finally recognise me or in a very good mood~
As usual, he talked to me non-stop while ‘servicing’ my teeth and me holding a mirror to look and examine what he was doing to my teeth. And yesterday our conversation went like this (combination of Hokkien and English) :
Dentist : So, where are you going for the upcoming Raya?
Me : No where. Are you going back to your hometown, Hat-Yai?
Dentist : Yes, going back to Hap-Cai. You still pronounce it as Hat-Yai!
Me : It spells H-A-T-Y-A-I.
Dentist : Yes, but the correct pronunciation is HapCai.
Me : Ohh ok. I’ve been there once, a lot of things to buy.
Dentist : You did? How did you go there?
Me : I took Air Asia flight.
Dentist : You always fly by Air Asia?
Me : A few times. Cheap what?
Dentist : But aren’t you scared of flying?
Me : What to be scared of? You know what, more people are scared of dentist than flying!
Dentist : …. *stop for a few seconds* …. How could it be!
Me : It is true!
Dentist : There’s nothing to be scared of dentist. *start to drill my teeth to clean off the excess cement, the sound was like filling the teeth!!!*
Me : This sound is scary..!
Dentist : But this sounds like melody to me~
Me : ….. *speechless*
Yesterday, the service took more than 45 minutes as there was extra stuff he gotta fix on my teeth. Before we went off, he found out that I’ll be going to Bangkok at the end of the month.
Dentist : Why are you going to Bangkok?
Me : Shopping!
Dentist : There are so many riots there. So unpeaceful.
Me : My friends went and came back safely.
Dentist : Went in one piece and came back in one piece?
Me : Yeah exactly. If you don’t see me next month, you’ll know what happen to me. *grin*
Dentist : …. =| *bewildered look*

My 1st oh-so-noisy-scarf~
Filed Under dance, me, weekend | 14 Comments
Weekend was my rather usual back to hometown weekend. Just stayed at home entire Saturday, probably the only day in the month where I did not face the computer!!! Geez, think bout it, I face the computer almost everyday in the month, day and night! No wonder my eyes are getting more tired each day and darker! Nah, my parents didn’t miss me much while I was away. We watched some Chinese series from the DVD though, which was quite enjoyable. ^.^
Back to the topic I am rather excited about, till now. I hope it doesn’t go off soon, I mean the excitement. Yeah, belly dancing! I’ve gotten the belly dancy scarf last week from e-bay. Not actually buying from e-bay but the e-bay seller came to our office with her colourful scarves. The price is rather cheap, only RM32 (less than USD10), compared to the one in Khazanah, selling for RM70 a piece! The tutor, Nanncy is selling at RM220 a piece, but hers is handmade from Greece, thus superior quality from the rest of them. Nah, can’t afford them. I am happy with a RM32 one~
The picture is taken from ebay~
At first, I wanted to get the pink velvet scarf with silver coins. After that I wanted the black velvet one, look so classy and sexy! But at last I took the pink rose, which is like chiffon type quality, sheer, soft and noisy! It has more than 150 pieces of gold coin attached to it. So imagine the jingling sounds it makes as you hold it. Ahh, that’s exactly the point. You tie the belly dance scarf around your hips and when you shake your hips, it goes jingle-a-ding sound.
Pretty fun, ain’t it? Can't wait to wear it for my next class!!!
This pic is taken from the Ebay, the many ways of tying it. But we only tie at the hips, so far. =P
This is taken by a Sony camera.. ^.^ Nice, huh?

Good Food for Half the Price!
Filed Under photo, food | 9 Comments
Where do you find delicious Italian, thin crust pizza with luscious topping at half price!?! Ahh.. I found it in PJ Uptown, Izzi Pizza (next to the Starbuck)! Well, it is actually my second visit and the first one was at the much nicer restaurant in KL. They even have jockey service for FREE!
I can’t help but attracted to their 50% off promotion for total bill with purchase above RM60 (with Maybank Card) or above RM100 (for HSBC & Citibank). Really good deal, right!
(This picture was taken in 1st visit in May)
This time we ordered the Marinara Pizza with generous topping of mussels and prawns as well as cheesy cheese on a thin, crusty bread! A regular one is RM28.80. I love the chicken wings though it is a little pricey at RM11.80 for 5 small piece (half chicken wings) but the taste, yummy! So after discount is like RM6, so it is not so bad.
(This picture was taken in 1st visit in May)
The soup of the day was corn and it tasted so corny, rather good but a little too small portion!
(This picture was taken in 1st visit in May. Cheesy dough, taste so so only)
So, after a satisfying meal, here came the bill! It cost us around RM66 but after discount, it was only RM33 for 2 persons!!! Rather cheap for a pleasant Italian pizza, nice ambience and good service! They also serve local foods as well as pasta, so more variety for those who is not in love with the Italian.. I mean the food.. =D

Is it Paypal or is it Me?
Filed Under money, me | 15 Comments
Gee.. I heaved a sigh of relief when I finally received an email from Paypal this morning. Well, I did a stupid mistake yesterday at their system. Not me actually, but the unfriendliness of their system!
Wanting to check how much it costs to upgrade to Premier Account from my Personal Account, I click on the Upgrade button and it prompts me to a screen for selection of Premier and Business Account. There was a Continue button, which NORMALLY means what IT MEANS. Continue. I clicked it and voila, I am Premier account now!!! What the.. !!! There is not even a Confirm button or an ‘Are You Sure You want to Upgrade’ message box or screen to change the account type!!!
I wrote to their customer service, waited patiently, almost yanking out my hairs and cursing at my own stupidity (should be theirs, lousy system right!). And finally got an email from them, telling me that they have changed it back to Personal Account!!! Ohh, thank god! But I can only downgrade it once for the account, no turning back if it happens the next time. But I am happy with the Paypal customer service, very polite, fast & efficient!
I guess I won’t be stupid for two times, will I?
So, jadikan pengalaman saya sebagai pengajaran anda~ (Take my experience as your lesson)
Btw, I think it is really cool that now we Malaysian can finally withdraw from Paypal~
Wheee~~
Love and hate relationship~
