I am back from Hanoi on Saturday, with the early flight at 9.30am Vietnam time (an hour earlier than Malaysia).

Hmm.. is it fun and beautiful? Well, Hanoi is a cultural city and Halong is a beautiful place with wonderful island, perfect for photography. But for shopaholic like me, I suppose the place isn’t half as cool as Bangkok. (
What is holiday without shopping, right?)

The food? Hmm.. it is too much fried and too plain too. As I was following tour package, I didn’t have a chance to taste those street food but all I had was in the restaurant. Some was good (perhaps I was hungry) and some was so so only. Which makes me wonder why Vietnam Kitchen (in One Utama) food is so good?

I didn’t even get to try the Vietnam coffee. Yes, I know, what a waste! Only coffee in the hotel during breakfast which was good enough for me.

Buildings there are quite nice too, slim and tall with nice designs and colours. It reminds me a little of the buildings in San Francisco. Cool!

The people? They speak mostly Vietnamese and very few speak Mandarin and English which makes communication a little difficult. But I think the people are generally quite slim and pretty. Fair and lovely~

Their main transportation is bike and bicycle and boy, how they love to honk! You could hear honking coming from everywhere every seconds, day and night. Their traffic is in real mess and everyone turns everywhere as they pleased.

And yup, as it was a place for photography I took more than 1000 pictures! And now I am having hard time filtering them. Aikss… I’ll be posting them soon, or so I hope!

Oh gosh, back to work.. holiday is over.. =(

Pan Mee has always been one of my favourite. When I was younger, my mum would make us pan-mee in soup with shredded eggs, anchovies and chicken for dinner sometimes. It was a simple meal but we just loved it. But she has stopped making pan mee for us, as I couldn’t recall the last time she made it.

In Malacca, it is refers as mee-hoon-kueh’ instead of ‘pan-mee’ and most of them are made using hand instead of machine.

A couple of weeks ago, my colleague mentioned a nice chilly pan mee in Damansara Uptown, which is the branch of the famous chilly pan mee in KL.

So, not knowing what to eat for lunch on Sunday, we decided to give it a try. After some rounding in Uptown, I found this Yong Kee‘Traditional & Fushion Pan Mee’ (same row as HSBC) but I am not sure if it is the same one as recommended by my colleague.

It was rather nice but the spicy Kam Heong pan mee that I ordered is rather spicy (after eating half of it) and towards the end, it is a little oily but I guess that’s what makes it tasty. =P The Klang-styled pan mee was rather good too although it is quite a traditional soup pan mee.
