It is my second visit to Langkawi as I have visited this island in Nov 2006, yeah, exactly two years ago. I went with my close friends back then and I found it enjoyable. Since my parents have never stepped into the island before, well, why not?

During the Matta fair, I almost booked the island hopping basic package as it was RM58 if I book on the day. But if I walk-in, it would cost me RM68! Luckily I didn't book it!

My housemate told me that it was only RM35 when she went last year and I couldn't remember how much I paid for during the my previous trip (coz I didn't blog much about it - only 2 paragraphs for the whole trip! - which I regretted now and so I am going to write long, grandmother posts for this trip! So bear with me! :P )

So when I was at the airport, this guy approached me and offered me RM40. I bargained as I have 4 persons and I got it at RM35 too! Yay! I didn't pay on spot and tell him that I would call him the next morning, in case I could get RM30 from other company. He laughed and said he would refund me if I got it at that price! Anyway, I did find a RM30 package on the last day, after the island hopping trip. :P

On the 2nd day morning, we went to Pulau Dayang Bunting (Pregnant Maiden Island, I think :P ), where you have to climb up the stairs and descend to a lovely lake. It was a little difficult for my mother to climb up or down as she always have knee pain problem. But slowly and steadily we made it!

The bear-in-the-photo-idea was stolen from Keone & coincidentally this is the bear that he bought for my birthday about 8 years ago which I almost lost and I was scared he would be mad but he didn't; and knowing him well, I bet he remember none of it. =)

We have an hour in the island. You could kayak/canoe or rent the paddle boat there or simply relax and dip your feet into the lake where there are garoupa fishes 'cleaning' up the dry skin on your feet for free!

It is like those fish spa in KL. If you buy some fish food and throw them on your feet, all the fishes will come swimming around your feet! It feels ticklish to have them touching you. My mom, bro and I tried but my father wouldn't! My father bought 3 keychains there (see, he is like me, like to buy small useless small stuffs).

There were many monkeys at the island too and one should be watchful of their belongings. We stopped to eat some breads and those monkeys wanted to snatch the food from us too! We fended them off with umbrellas. By the way, there are toilets in the island too.

Next we went to see eagle feeding nearby an island (which I forgot the name, or never knew the name, in fact). I was told that they feed the eagles with chicken skin! Yikes, high cholesterol, birdie! It was amazing to see some big, strong eagles swooshing about! Beautiful!

Lastly we went to the lovely island of Pulau Beras Basah (Wet Rice Island?) which is a stretch of beach with fine sands and no water supply, which means no toilet. If you have to do your business, you go to some bushes and do it there. :P

There is a small hut where a lady was selling some cold canned drinks and hot beverages
(I had coconut there before too) and chips too. Very pleasant and relaxing island with beautiful girls in bikinis as well as obese ladies in skimpy bikinis too! Ooops! 1 hour there.

You could go swimming, play sands or go for banana boat.

The whole island trip takes around 3 hours only, do bring your own foods. Wear shorts and sandals (and hats and umbrella if you are scared of sun like me). It was the first time seeing my father wearing shorts when we go out. He is always in his long pants! ;D

Most of us are familiar with the LCCT as most of the time; we took Air Asia flights as it is rather affordable. And for the first time last week, I took the Firefly instead and have to go to the Subang airport, or also known as Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport.

It is an old on airport, built back in 1965 with the longest runway in South East Asia! Most of the places are under construction to turn it to an ultra modern hub, SkyPark.

Currently there are only banks, a diamond shop (who does diamond-shopping while waiting for flight?!) and the competitors, Air Asia counter in the airport! Not to mention, a small "mamak stall"-café known as 'Makcik Café', selling prepacks food!

And flying back from Langkawi, I was surprised to see the 'baggage claim' area which is at the entrance of a door. People were standing there, waiting for the flight officer to put our luggage at the door. The respective owners would then take their own bags. I saw a small conveyer belt by the corridor, which was for baggage claim in the future I suppose.

Well, although it was a little empty and boring and 'traditional', I find that it is more convenient to go as it is in Subang. I could take a cab from my house in PJ and it cost me about only RM25 per trip. I have to buy taxi coupon from the counter on the way home and it cost me only RM22 to go back to PJ. Much more affordable and save time on travelling to the airport compared to KLIA and LCCT.

And the Firefly plane was quite ok too. It was small planes like Air Asia's and it could seat 52 people. Check In baggage is free (oppose to AirAsia's baggage charges) and they even give refreshment in the plane. Just some biscuits and orange juice but still better than Air Asia.

And you get seat numbers in the plane as well. I am not sure if the numbers are assigned during booking or check-in though. :D

Another thing that I like about FireFly is there is not as many passengers like in Air Asia, which means less queue and less crowd. But then again, it doesn’t fly to as many places as Air Asia. So yeah.. =)

I have become photography maniac when I got my 3rd current digital camera (Canon Digital Ixus 75) that enables me to take great pictures! I practically snapped everything new in sight, food, people, events and stuffs!

I took pictures of my new shoes, small silly or fancy stuffs that I bought, the flowers, people, anything! Whenever I have dinner/lunch during weekend, I took pictures of them even though I have dined at the same restaurants many times.

Whenever I go for trips, I would take a minimum of 500 pics, sometimes more than 1000! It is easy to take photos, just snapped on a button. It is digital, so it is free to take as many as I want.

But the thing is to organize, select and keep those pictures that I have taken! I tried to put every picture in respective folders with the date taken. Next, I have to delete those duplicates pictures, blurred pictures and ugly pictures. After that I have to reduce the size of pictures that I will never develop so it wouldn’t be too huge in size.

Then, I touch up those dark and dull pictures! That is plenty of work! There is more work when I want to develop some of the pictures, I have to select from the hundreds.

Not to mention for blogging purpose, choosing those pictures, arranged them nicely and put captions. Man, it is tiring! I spent four good hours last Sunday, arranging and organizing some of my photos taken in the last 5 months and it is still not completed yet!

After I am done, with it, I will have to burn them into DVD for backup, not one copy but two! *tired*

Back & Busy!

Filed Under me, life | 5 Comments

Back from Langkawi! =) Busy cleaning up all those photos taken in the past 5 months in my pc.
Busy doing some little shopping and get some accessories for myself. ^.^

Busy going to the dentist and finding out more about root canal, post and dental crown. >_<

Will be back soon (I hope) with pictures.

I have been carrying my heavy laptop bag to work for past 2 days, which means 4 times trip. Each trip I have to walk around 15 minutes with 15 minutes break in between (in the train). Total is about 60 minutes or an hour of carry heavy laptop bag. Probably about 5kg of so.

And that is about 12% of my body weight! >_<

Result?

Backache and slight knee pain! Geezz.. I need a massage!

Usually I only carry the bag on Friday evening and Tuesday morning but due to finishing up work before I go for holiday, I have to bring them home for the past two days.

And I think I am not built to have 14 inches laptop. Maybe I should really propose to have the Acer Aspire One at 8.9 inches at only about 1.2kg! :D

Anyway, I’ll be away for a short, much-looking forward trip to Langkawi with my family. Be right back! ;)

Happy working everyone~

Prices for all goods go up.

It was so cheap then but it was so expensive now.

The quality is getting worse even though the price has increased.

The value of money has dropped!

We have heard of those complaints a little far too frequent. But then again, some good prices have dropped to unbelievably low without compromising on the quality! It might be even better!

No, it is not the world’s crude oil price although that has dropped steadily too. ^.^

It is the computer hardware!

I thought it was time that I gave my baby Dell a little boost as it has been testing my patient with the limited 1GB RAM on Vista platform. I couldn’t imagine how I could have survived with 32MB RAM with my first desktop computer!

After some quick survey on the internet, I thought perhaps I have to fork out about RM140 for a 2GB RAM and that sounds pretty reasonable price for me. Thus I went to the Digital Mall in Section 14 on Saturday afternoon.

What shock me was the price of Kingston 2 GB RAM DDR2-667 was only at RM85! Lifetime warranty! That was dirt cheap, or so I felt! I remembered RAM was once expensive luxury hardware, well, about 10 years ago or so.

After the upgrade, now I have 2.5GB of RAM. I even thought of getting of upgrading the two slots of memory in my lappie so I could have 4GB!!! But too bad I was told that my 1.5-years-old-baby might not be able to take it. :P

However, 2.5GB is fast enough. And now, I can cruise while I surf~ ^.^

Anyone wants my old but functional 512MB RAM?

Most of the time, I am not fully satisfied with what I have. I thought I could have more and deserved better. But after watching the heart wrecking videos of small children living and working in the biggest dump site in Philippines, Payatas; I know I have everything to be grateful for. For the children and family lives in dire straits and eat foods they found from the dump site. They collect and sell materials that they found from the newly arrived garbage.

The ToteDaddy.com is trying to make a different for them this coming Christmas by creating a charity appeal to raise donation through Christmas For Payatas. Many prominent supporters such as famous celebrities, footballers or politicians are great influence for the good cause. Let’s hope it could make a different to each and everyone of them and increase their quality of lives.

Press Release :

The landfill in Payatas, The Philippines, is notoriously known the world over as Smokey Mountain. For over 35 years, the smoking dump site has grown to become a stark and heart-tugging reminder of the desperate onditions of humanity.

On a daily basis, children pick through newly arrived garbage to
collect material to sell. The earnings made by one child are not enough to even buy food for the day. Hence, entire families are forced to climb the mountain each day, hoping to earn enough to feed everyone. Children as young as four years old are forced to work in this daily struggle for survival.

In response to the plight of these children, Totedaddy.com is working with Lighthouse Center For Children Foundation to bring a little cheer to the children this Christmas.

Totedaddy.com has kicked off with a cash sponsorship of USD 10,000 to enable the children to celebrate Christmas. FusionExcel International has also pitched in a USD 5,000 in cash sponsorship. The money raised
will help fund the projects already in place, and help fund additional projects aimed at providing better housing, and a means of livelihood for the Payatas community.

It is hoped that by creating better awareness to the plight of these children, more support can be garnered towards their betterment. Together we can bury poverty!

As usual, I like to try out new places for breakie.. and this time, I went to Sun Wong, owned by Overseas Group at Jaya One. The theme is striking black and red! It is quite a big restaurant alright.

Actually I went there for dinner before and it was like other Hong Kong char-chan-teng/restaurant. I didn’t quite like the dinner as I felt that it wasn’t as nice as I expected.

However, seeing the breakfast set meals from RM5.90 onwards, I wanted to give it another chance.

But I guess, I just didn’t quite like the food there. Not to mention the awfully slow service! We waited for quite a long time before the food was served and it was supposed to operate a couple of hours before we arrived.

Anyway, I think the coffee was pretty rich and nice. But the rest was just so so. :)

Girls grow up reading those romantic chick lit novels always hope for some romance in their life. Some watch it in the movies and feel, oh so romantic. Falling in love, meeting the right guy and sometimes, we justify our expectation and settle down with someone that we deemed good enough.

In real life, love isn't just so romantic. Hollywood needs to make romance movie so it that it sells. The same goes to the novel. And we are so easily sold. We wanted to believe it is true. We yearn for it. Longing our life to be like a fairy tale.

But what do we do if the one doesn't seem to be the one right from the beginning?
A friend of mine finally got into relationship after many years of single-dom. I was very happy for her as she has found her happiness at last… Or so we thought.

But romance is not in the air. Dinners do not even come a couple times a week. Calls are not even frequent. The word love isn't enough to sustain the relationship. Romance is not his field, so he claimed. Sickness means dealing it yourself. Nothing he has done so far has even proven his love. Or so I felt.

Sadly, she felt the same too.

Is he even serious?

Shall she continue or shall she stops.

If I am her, he would already be history!

So, yeah.. good luck, hon! Remember, there are plenty more trees in the forest! ;)

I think I am getting a little disgusted by putting my retainer in between the tissue whenever I need to eat too. And not to mention that it is easily lost and I couldn’t risk it when I think of my dentist.

Thus I finally visited 100 Yen shop at SS2 to find a suitable container as I do not know where to get a proper retainer case. I remembered seeing many cute little containers at the shop and I could do with some ‘cute’. An excuse to step into my favourite shop again.

And I found what I want, 4 perfectly small, cleared colour container. It was just the right size for my container and at only RM4.90 for a pack of four. What a steal!

P/S : Anyone needs a retainer case? I got extras. Or maybe to stash away some of your chopped garlic? :D

I wasn’t a big fan of Miso soup before this as I felt that it tastes too instant. But after much influence for a couple of years, I have a thing for the soup now.

The clear soup with little pieces of seaweed and tofu. Yum. It could really enhance one appetite.

And thus, when I saw it at the new Japanese stall/shop Shojikiya at One Utama, I couldn’t help but to get a pack of twelve. With 6 flavours and 2 packs each at RM17.90, a tad too expensive but then again, it was product of Japan.

Just add hot boiling water to the paste and add the seaweed/tofu into a bowl. And hey voila, you got yourself a bowl of miso soup at the comfort of your own home. =D
