SkyTrex at Bukit Cahaya.
Filed Under fun, colleague | 3 Comments
I decided to join my then-new-colleagues to the adventure of SkyTrex in Bukit Cahaya/Taman Pertanian (in Feb, another late post), when I barely joined the company for less than a month; remembering well the fun of team building in Allson Klana Resort, Port Dickson even though the Flying Fox scared the shit out of me.
Not to mention, it is a great way to know my new colleagues better. And also overcome my fear of flying fox. I wasn’t really scared of height, but just the speed of it.
SkyTrex is a jungle trekking from the height of 3 to 22 metres from the ground with different challenges on the ropes. With 23 thrilling challenges (some repeat paths), it could be quite tiring and yet fun.
And I am glad I joined it. A great way for those to overcome their height phobia and trying out something different.

The minimum height is 1.4 metres and takes about 1 to 2 hours or so to complete. Do visit their website for more information & better pictures.

The Big Yellow Moon
Filed Under me, life | 5 Comments
When I was young and foolish, I always walked home with my mother and siblings from our grandmother house.
I thought I made the moon followed me as I walked. The reason was when I looked up at the sky at night while walking, I could see the moon hovering over me even if I have made 10 steps. It was always exactly on top of my head. So yeah, the moon must have followed me.

Her New Home
Filed Under stuffRM | Leave a Comment
The other weekend, CL and I visited Becky’s house as she has just moved in with her boyfriend. They have a little house warming and invited many people on that Sunday night.
They are the second owners of the ten year old house. Although the price was good for a double storey house, but as it was quite old, much money was spent on renovation! They have spent quite a bomb on renovating part of the house and they are more to go!
I had the pleasure of going into every rooms and admiring the work that they have done so far. As usual, I love to peep into the washroom. To me, a comfortable and nice washroom is a must as we spent private time in them even though most people think least for the room.
To my delight, they have what I always wanted to have in my own bathroom in the future; a nice bathroom wardrobe, separate shower space, bright lightning and big, clear mirror.
According to her, most of her ideas and the bathroom furniture & accessories are from BetterBathrooms.com. There have everything that you ever wish for in your bathrooms. Now they are having stock clearance and you can get up to 55% off recommended retail price!
A simply beautiful house, but just a little pricey for me!

Sungai Lembing 2!
Filed Under holiday, weekend | 8 Comments
I thought I would never visit the small town of Sungai Lembing again in my lifetime after my first trip in July 08. But I did it again in early March 09 (apparently this post is two months late :p)
Sungai Lembing is a very hot town with small group of population, mainly the elderly and children. It is located about half an hour drive from Kuantan.
There is nothing much there in the town except for the main attraction, the Rainbow Waterfall (if you manage to survive an hour of jungle trekking with leeches and 2 hours of damn-bumpy-lorry ride under the scorching sun.) Which I gladly passed this time round. =)
There is also a small hill where you can see beautiful sunrise after trekking for about 30 to 45 min (depending on your stamina and speed). I suppose during this 2nd trip, I saw the first sunrise for the first time (with my failing memory, this feels like the first time though) after waking up at 4.30am in the morning! =.=” (so much for a relaxing trip).

And also the Crystal house, with all the marvellous collection of crystal by an old man when he was mining during his younger years. Not to mentioned the Gua Charas, with many stairs and a big cave which is quite windy.
For food, you can get quite nice kolo-mee (dry noodles) with their famous cham-peng (iced coffee + tea) in the morning market foodcourt and economy tomato meehoon for lunch at their coffee shop. Everything is cheap. Not to forget the famous juicy siu yuk (roasted pork) that is suppose to be the best (in the country?)
You can find cheap accommodation in the area as more and more guest house sprouting due to the increasing number of tourist to the small town.
I think I’ll restraint myself from saying that I would never be there for the third time!

A one-year-plus toddler was being slaughtered at the outside of her house on an early Tuesday morning when the residents were busy getting to work.
Or that was my initial thought after hearing the screaming of the little girl. “WUAAAAAAAaaa… MUMMMMYYYyyyyyy…!!!”
I was in my room, rushing out to be 15 minutes earlier to work than usual due to the extra 30-minutes-working-hour-policy.
Disappointed that a web page failed to load even after I paused the downloading of something (that should not be mentioned in public, just in case) which surprisingly had a high-download-speed that morning; I quickly shut off my laptop as it deserved to rest while I was at work.
As I walked out of the room, I grabbed a pair of black socks as I have subconsciously decided that today I must treat my feet & weak knee better. No heels/wedges for today but a pair of ugly but comfy shoes.
And the screaming was still looming in the neighborhood as I opened my shoes rack and for one split moment, I was tempted to wear the pointy brown heels. But as my hand reached forward to grab them, a voice in my head boomed : It’s a shoes day! And so I took out the shoes that I haven’t worn for months and slipped into the comfortable territory.
And ahh.. the poor little girl who even look cute when she was covered with tears was standing by the gate, crying for her mom whom, I believed had just stepped out to work.
It was a heart-wrenching cry, screaming at the top of her tiny lungs; flailing her tiny arms into the air while her grandmother and supposedly-father holding and consoling the distraught girl. Never under estimate the chaos someone so small could make!
Well, it wasn’t the first scene that I have seen especially after the way the twin little boys next door used to beat my alarm clock in waking me up. They were the cutest little things but you wouldn’t want to be with them in the situation where they were pining after their mother who had to leave for work.
But in our society today, we can safely assumed that most mothers do have to go to work to bring back the extra bacon or holiday. Even though they must feel guilty (or already immune) to leave their beloved screaming-kids in the hand of others.
How many moms do you know personally that have the capacity or pleasure (or otherwise) to be a full time mom? It is tough for one man to be the only sole provider to a family these days.
We are earning more than our parents did but somehow we have higher needs, wants & better quality of life compare to them as well. As well as hoping to be able to support the kids for their pricey-education in hope of a better future.
Saying them doesn’t mean that I would have done differently when my time comes; as I am pretty sure that I would have made the same option too. Many kids have to learn to live with it, like it or not.
After all, it is not really a choice for many of us, isn’t it?
And well, I do have my choice in certain things in life, don’t I?
Like deciding to treat my feet better and reach out for the comfortable shoes instead of the tempting-evil-heels (on certain days)! =)

Con Men On The Prowl
Filed Under life, family | 5 Comments
Just the other day, after reading some forwarded emails on theft & robbery, I was thinking that baddies nowadays are getting very creative & clever with their different plots & tactics.
I didn’t know it would come this close though.
On Monday morning, on my way to work by LRT, my father called me on my mobile. He seldom called early in the morning and I thought I would return his call later as I was sardined in the packed train.
However, a couple of minutes later, my brother called me. Fearing for the worst, I picked up his call when the train halted to a stop and I have space to talk.
He asked me where I was. I told him that of course I was on the way to work. Where could I be on a Monday morning? He sounded relieve and told me that someone made a nasty call to my father.
It seemed that a young girl was crying in the phone (pretended to be me) and begged my father to help her! Then, the phone was handed to a guy and he demanded money for her release.
Of course my father was panic (as he told me later that the girl sounded a little like me!).
After hanging up, my father called me. Failing to answer the call made him even worried!
It seems like this kind of scam is quite popular as my colleague heard it from radio station as many listeners called to complaint. I think it is targeted for parents with children working outstation as one of my neighbours got the call too (her daughter working in Singapore).
But one of the caller to the radio station said that she has no children and yet she got that call! Wrong number?
Smart but not too smart, so many loopholes, eh..?

Taiwanese Mr. Baoz
Filed Under food | 12 Comments
I always wanted to try these cute and creative paos from Mr.Baoz after I saw the variety from forwarded email. It is very famous in Taiwan and already made its way here!
I bought 3 from 1Utama’s branch (also available in Pavillion & JB City Square) and waited for about 25 minutes as the service was very slow! So much of heating/steaming each pau on request, which was painstakingly slow.
I bought the Tri-star squid roll,$3.50 which was pretty good although disappointing as there really wasn’t squid inside. Onion Chicken Baoz, $3 was mostly potatoes inside. Hmm.. I had yet to try my Viennese Cheese Baoz, $3.50 which would be my supper later.
The prices range from $2 to $3.50 each, with about 30 varieties to choose from! Pretty unique but then again, not something that you would be drooling for. However if I am to try again, I would try the crispy series or Curry Chicken Baoz. =)
