Are you guilty of stealing internet lines/account in those days that we were using dial up? I am.

I was reminded of my selfish act when I was in
TMPoint (for the 3rd times, but that's a different story) the other day when I saw an old Indian man lodging a complaint.

He was seated at the next counter from mine and since the registration of my 2nd Streamyx line took a very long time (40 minutes at the counter) as their system was very, very slow (how ironic when they are the internet broadband provider!), I couldn't help but to listen (read : eavesdropping) to his complaint.

It seems that someone was using his dial up account very frequently when he didn't use it in the period at all. Only he and his wife in the house and clearly someone else have been stealing it. I felt bad for him as I have been the 'internet thief' before when I was in uni.

My housemate provided us with some of the username and password that we could use to login to the dial up internet. It was free internet for us and I didn't give much thought to the owner of the account, not even sure who it belong to. I guess we didn't have really good etiquette and didn't think of the person who has to pay for it.

Selfish act, I have to admit. Another selfish act that I couldn't really remember if we did was "Did we let the ceiling fan switched on when we went to kuliah/classes when we were staying in the hostel?"

I am in furious mood this morning, until now. I woke up early, took the LRT and went to the place to do an application with 2 friends. It took around 3 hours for everything to be processed while we waited and waited and waited, boringly.

My friend got her application approved easily, without having to show any documents and her officer was really nice and friendly!!!

Meanwhile, I got the monster officer who had just rejected a guy application. I showed him all the documents I have but he wasn’t happy. He wanted to see more documents and commanded me to come back tomorrow. No negotiation. Darn!

It is so unfair! I wasted my precious hours, taking off from work, even though I have pile of works in the office and tomorrow would be my last day in this current company. I have to go again tomorrow morning and I am not sure how long will it be and NO GUARANTEE that my application would be approved.

I so desperately want it. Please, approve my application tomorrow. I cannot wait any longer. And I don’t want to be late for my last day tomorrow. *sigh*

And yeah, I hate him! The bugger face!

My eyes have been very dry at work or whenever I face the pc for too long. I went to see the doctor to get some artificial tears on Monday. The first clinic that I went was very crowded so I was lazy to wait. So I moved on to another clinic nearby that I have never been before. It’s empty! So I gladly went in, registered and got to see the doctor soon!

It was an old Chinese doctor. I told him I have dry eyes and he wrote it on the report. Seeing that he wasn’t going to ask further I told him that I used ‘Eye Mo Moist’ but it is not working. He said it is useless and I should be using natural eye drop. And with that he showed no sign of checking my eyes or asking me the symptoms or anything at all!

I stepped out from his door within a minute and understood perfectly why his clinic was empty!!! I got a 15ml artificial eye drop which I was rather grateful for.

The charges? RM10 for 1-minute-2-questions-consultant-fee and RM20 for the 15ml-artificial-eye-drop. And I am glad for the ING employee card that I can use to pay it.

Over tea yesterday, I heard something horrible from my colleagues and I believe that everyone would have heard of something familiar happened to their friends or family. Probably not the exact scenario but something as frightful as well.

A colleague’s brother-in-law was sitting in the car, waiting for her wife outside of their house in KL. Two Indian men on motorbike came and stopped by the car and asked him if he knew of any houses to rent nearby. He said no and they left on the bike.

A few seconds later, the same two Indian men on motorbike returned and smashed the car’s side window with a parang (big chop knife)!!! Then they shoved the knife to his neck and demanded him to hand over his wallet and belongings. Well, he had to do as instructed, as the parang was at his neck (even leave a mark now). >_<

Man.. it happened when he was in his car, right in front of his own house!!!

Another case : the colleague who sat next to me is on emergency leave yesterday. He sms-ed us that his house was broke in yesterday night and all the grills were cut. >_<

It was one of the many stories I heard and it happened to me too (different scenario, but also 2 Indian men on bike). There is no more security even outside our own house, even if we are in the car and even happens to guys as well! What’s happening to our country?!? We read them everyday in the newspaper, read them in the forwarded emails and friend, colleagues and family told us first or second hand news that happened around them.

Things are getting out of hands; it is no longer a safe place, even in your own house or car. >_<
