Are you tempted to look into others pc/laptop monitor when you pass them by? I try not to look whenever I can as I know it is very annoying to have others keep peering into your monitor, trying to see what you are doing! (=.=)"

In the office, I was sitting in a cubicle with my laptop facing inside the cubicle. Theoretically, everyone that passes by behind me, can peer to my screen without me knowing. I am alright with it.

But as I was always plugged with pc headset and constantly jolted when my colleague suddenly appeared from my back to talk to me, I put a small mirror so I am aware of those "visitors".

And soon enough, I find a colleague who loves to stare peep into my monitor screen almost every time she passes by my cubicle! (=.=)"

I tried to tell myself that it’s okay as sometimes people are just curious now and then. Thus the peep show.

But her continual attitude really put me off. Just mind your own business, will you?!? I have never even had one glance at her monitor LCD all these while (not that I get to do so at the first place as she was sitting at a corner). But still.. :P

But I also discover that another colleague of mine that have constant view of my laptop monitor screen from her cubicle rarely even glance at my way. Thanks for the privacy (even at work)!

So how do you deal to those uninvited-peepers at work?

P/S : Other than that, she’s an OK colleague.

P/S 2
: Matta Travel Fair is coming on this weekend on 5th – 7th Sept 2008 at PWTC ! Yay!!! Time to get good travel deal~ v(^.^)v

A little conversation between my colleague and me last Friday. Here it goes :

Colleague : I am so stressed! There is so much to do and to test!!! *sigh*

Me
: Take it easy. Tomorrow is weekend already! Can rest for 2 days. Hooorayyy!!!

Colleague
: But on Monday, we have to deal this again.

Me
: Rest first and then continue to think about it on Monday.

Colleague
: I will keep thinking about it over the weekend.

Me
: You really do that? Why? Just forget about it! Put it down.

Colleague
: I can't do that. You just worry about things one day at a time. You can just forget about it?

Me
: Yes, indeed I can and I do that. In fact I even let it go after I knock off from work everyday. Or else you'll age fast with all the stress!

Colleague
: Yes, no wonder I look older. Must learn to let go.. (=.=)"

Well, from the conversation with my colleague, initially I wondered if I wasn't as good an employee as she was. As she was truly worried about the same projects that we handled together up to the extend of worrying it during weekend and after work!

For me, I seldom think about works at home and I don't really get stressed up, unless during working hour. But I suppose we have to let go of it now and then or else it would be too heavy when we carry it for too long without resting.

So, now I think I am a smarter employee, not a less efficient and loyal one. =)

Do you worry about your work after working hours and over the weekend? Or you just pick up the work burden again when you step into the office every morning?

P/S : Happy Weekend! Put down the work baggage and enjoy your weekend!!!

The other day, I asked my ex-colleagues for lunch as my lunch-box-caterer decided not to send me my daily-mixed-rice as she said her man had gone out when she received my order via sms which was rather unlikely to me. Fine.

So at 1pm, I went down to meet up with my ex-colleague. AV called me and asked about my whereabouts.

"Gloria Jeans", I told her.
She was there as well and she told me that our
ex-manager was there too! :|

I quickly scanned around and instantly saw my 2-metre-tall-1-metre-wide-ex-manager (as they described him in the past) buying coffee, around 25 steps from where I was standing.

I quickly dodged before he could see me and found my ex-colleague hiding from him at the corner too. We both broke into
laughter and hurried away before he could spot us.

How funny that we were still escaping from our ex-manager even though we are not under him anymore and he wasn't such a bad guy after all. Come to think of it, we didn't even have much communication or mistreated when we were under him; we were just mere wallpaper that wasn't of much importance to him, or so I felt.

We didn't have no nothing to be ashamed of or be afraid of. He even left the company before I did!!! But why was I running away? It was just instant reaction!

It reminded me of the younger time when I would quickly escape when seeing teachers at pasar malam (night market) or anywhere else. And I have same behavioural act after 10 years out of school.

Would I be the same 10 years later? Or would I just walk over and say Hi, how are you!?!

Here is it, the belly dancing performance video and some pictures, as promised, taken during the annual dinner in Dec.

The original size is nearly 500MB and after many cutting and compressing, I managed to reduce it to 20MB, from 5 minutes to 1 minute and 17 seconds. (so, please bear wif the quality and lotsa cutting)

How I miss going for the belly dancing classes!!!

We arrived ready to Sunway to practise.. and to take pics!!! :D

Let's practise in a circle, put your hands like this~

The colorful belly dancer, talking & laughing~

All were ready and dressed, waiting for our turn to perform! *nervous

My colleague just gave birth to a baby boy last couple of months. It is the very first baby in our department and we are rather excited! ;)

So, after 2 months of maternity leave, she is finally back to the office, much slimmer and looks radiance!

Well, as the Chinese traditional goes, when the baby is 1 month old (baby full month), the parents would give away hard-boiled-‘red eggs’ to family, relatives and friends. Sometimes they give cakes or various local kuih. It is to welcome the new bundle of joy and the eggs symbolize fertility. The red colour bring good luck to the child, as red is the auspicious color to the Chinese.

Since my colleague gave birth in Penang, she wasn’t here when the baby celebrates full month. Guess what she gave for us as the ‘red eggs’ offering when she is back to office?

Nope, it is NOT red egg, not kuih, not even Ayam Mas or fried noodles (as both Yit and Sean guessed).

Guess again?!?

It is a KFC Voucher for snack plate and a drink!!! :D

It is certainly something very special and new to me. Come to think of it, it makes sense as it is much more convenient, durable (can be keep till next year, unlike food which has to be consumed in a short period of time), easy to distribute and simple, not much hassle of preparation! :D

How do you feel when YRLM (Your-Regular-Lunch-Mate) seems to be asking you for lunch when…

YRLM : Do you want to go for lunch today?

You : Yes, sure.

YRLM : I already tabau (bought) my lunch, so I am not going to lunch with you.

You : … <speechless> …

I decoded it as : Yadda yadda yadda.. I already have my lunch so I am not going to lunch with you although you want to lunch with me~ *rolled eyes*

And it happened so frequently that I am feeling a little disgusted..

P/S: I could find another lunch mate easily as I've been lunching with another gal recently but the way she put it/ask is rather infuriating.. She used to inform me beforehand that she couldn't make it to lunch, which I think quite nice and polite.

My colleague and I were just in the mood of exploring cosmetic last week. Both of us hardly makeup to work or even to casual outing so we don’t have much ideas about makeup!

She wanted to find a nude color lipstick that makes her lip pale but it was tough to find one that really gave that natural nude shade after applying as her natural lip color was rather pinkish.

We headed off to Estee Lauder in Isetan during lunch time after a quick lunch at the food court. The promoter put on the lipstick for her with gloss and she even tried the black eye shadow for smoky eyes effect. Finally she chose a piece of nude lipstick and I was happy for her.

We thought that’s all she was getting and before we knew it, it was more than an hour after lunch time and we purchased more items that we were seeking for!

Both of us purchased the makeup set of “Good As Gold” that consists of a palette of eye shadows, lipstick, duo blusher, eyeliner, lipliner and a dinner bag (that worth RM460 but only at RM148 if we purchased above RM150, which of course we did!).

On top of that I also bought a Brush-on Illuminator that cost RM100, which suppose to cover my dark circles but somehow I felt that my Maybelline liquid foundation does a better job! >_<

Anyway, splurging really does make me happy, just at a higher cost. Though, I still think it is rather a worthy set and if the illuminator is really effective, then it should worth it as well.

And I have a long way to learn the art of makeup to make myself prettier~ ^.^

Sometimes in life, we tend to be dramatic about something whether to grab some attention or magnifying a small matter in a big way. I suppose that makes life more interesting and fun than looking at things at the same way everyday. Yeah, it is good to be dramatic once in a while. But being dramatic everyday could be rather overwhelming to people around you. I think dramatic people just want and need a lot of attention. Something which I find rather exhausting to others if you are being dramatic all the time.

I have to say I have a very
dramatic colleague. She likes to be the center of attention all the time, by talking very loudly. I have to hush down her volume every time she gets too excited and drawing unnecessary attention from everyone else. Not only that, she would make herself look very pitiful if she woke up late and didn’t have time to buy breakfast! For God sake, grab some biscuits from the pantry, would you? I have given half of my breakfast to her sometimes and I am not going to do that every time she said to me in a pout “I am hungry”. (Ok, I am a little exaggerating a little here..)

If she hurts herself, she would scream out loud (which I definitely think she could tone down a little). Then she’ll go on and on and on about the story that she thinks she is unfairly treated to the others (and I could repeat the same story for her as I have heard so many times!). When other gossiped about her, she would kept on telling that she doesn’t mind what other is saying but at the same time, she asked my opinion about it, a hundred times! Man, if you really don’t mind, just dropped it!!! I do mind listening to you talking about it, again and again! She would tell us what her husband said and thought and what her children did and how her mother takes cares of her. *rolled eyes*

And yes, though we are quite close to her, we need a little break from putting you in the center of the attention all the time. She could be nice apart from the need to be dramatic so often. For example, she always volunteers to buy us food and takes the extra effort to organize it. But is it another way for her to be the center of attention?

Or is it me being dramatic now? Lolz

So unfair!
I am sulking.. stamping my feet.. pursing my lips..!
Reason is?
I don’t get my bonus days although he got it!!!
Ok, it’s like that..

In our company we have a policy that we can get up to 4 days of bonus leave next year if we do not take any MC this year. If you take 1 day MC this year, you’ll get 3 days of bonus leave next year. So, if you take 2 days of MC, you’ll get 2 days of bonus next year. If you take 4 or more MC, then you are not entitled to any bonus days. (This really helps to discourage people from taking MC!!!)

This year I only take
2 days of MC so by right I will get 2 days of bonus days next year. He didn’t take any MC so he’ll get 4 days of bonus days. Right? Yes.

The thing is both of us already resigned and last day for both of us are early next January. He opted to leave early before Christmas by offsetting his annual leave and he still will get 4 bonus days of annual leave.

I want to leave before end of December (note that it is after Christmas and after his last date) by offsetting my leave too. But HR said that I am not entitled for bonus leave next year coz I won’t be physically here!!!

But he also won’t be here what by next year and why he is entitled to the bonus leave!?! It is so unfair! :(

If I complain to the HR, I afraid he might lose his 4 days of bonus day too. So I think I shouldn’t sabotage his extra annual leave.

But I am feeling very unhappy.

So what am I going to do?

I am thinking of taking 2 more days of MC this year before I leave (so I won’t deserve the bonus days and won’t feel unjust!)! Wuahahahahhaa*evil plan

Though it is really a dread for me to fake sickness and see the doctor, something that I really am not good at and hate to do..

Don’t forget to put your citi visa card when leaving for vacation trips. But before buying anything with a credit card, one should be aware of the credit card application. Lots of frauds are observed in case of credit card processing. We can’t also ignore the factor of credit card debt, particularly in case of using a rewards visa credit card.

The crab dinner brought us all back again, I mean the 2 ex-colleagues that have left for other companies. Six of us arranged our 2nd crab dinner at Hau Kee, near to Tmn Yulex, Cheras. The first crab dinner we had was in Seremban, which we went right after work!

Though they said otherwise, I felt that the
crab was much better and tastier than the first trip. Perhaps we ordered different type of crabs, which was the cheesy and salted egg crabs! Perfectly deliciously! It is around RM45 to RM50 a kg for those crab.

The yummy salted egg crab!

Oh so yummy salted egg crab!

The even
yummier cheesy crab!

The
side orders were very tasty too. There were pork ribs, delicious signature tofu and vegetables (forgot to take de pictures before we ate, so this was what left when pictures were taken! Not very pretty but taste pretty good!)

The extremely expensive ‘
herbal-wine-prawns’ at RM100 per kg and we ordered 6. So each of us get one but they charged us RM90!!! After we made much noises they found out that it was wrongly calculated, as it was only RM45! We felt that they were trying to ‘cheat’ us. Luckily we asked for break down of the food prices and enquired about it! The thing was the prawn not even nice! >_<

The steamed man-tau, very good to go with the cheesy sauce!!! *
drooling*

As a compensation of their mistake, they gave us some
fruits, covered with ice! The total receipt came about slightly over RM200, quite okay la. Everything was great except for the prawn! :)

My 2 ex-colleagues and 3 colleagues~!

Me with my colleagues and ex-colleagues~

On second day, my roommate and I woke up at around 6.45am and showered! After a nice breakfast, we started to head to the field around 8.15am for another day full of activities

On the very first day, each of us was given a balloon with water and we have to bring it everywhere we go and must take care of it. If we lost it, marks would be deducted from our team.

The first game was Flying Fox which required us to climb up this vertical stairs for 4 storeys! It was very tiring for some. For me it was rather okay, perhaps my body is light. Of course they have a safety rope as to ensure your safety (just in case you are too tired and let go of your grip!)

After that you have to sit on the edge with the safety rope tight safely. After you are ready, with full courage, you need to push yourself to slide down the rope. It takes a lot of courage to do that. I asked the instructor to push me but he refused! So I pushed myself down which was really terrifying!!! I wanted to scream but my voice stuck in my throat.. It was really the most terrifying activity for me though I thought I could do it well. >_<

To some, it is even worse! Take this colleague of mine for example. He was sitting there at the edge for a long time as he didnt dare to push himself down! We kept encouraged him from the fields but he just wouldn't come down. A teammate went up and tried to talk to him, even ungripping his fingers from the sidebar but to no avail. Finally after what seems like forever, he finally climbed and hanged himself as in the picture and slowly let himself down.

In every game, we have a buddy to help, guide and encourage us through the activities. This was my buddy and me, running back after she finished her flying fox!

The second game of the day was High Ropes, the most challenging game of all! You have to walk through the ropes, high above the ground in 5 stages. Man, it really takes a lot of courage to do this! To make things worst, it started to rain when I was halfway through the game, when I was stucked high above the ground!

This needs a lot of effort, especially if you are not that tall..

The second stage of the high ropes, walking on a rope and holding on another horizontal rope above you. This was rather okay compare to the next one!!!

This is the toughest stage of all, walking through the rope, holding vertical ropes (with a tyre tied down at the bottom)! You have to hold the top part of the rope with your right hand and bottom part of the rope with left hand (which you will definitely forgot when you are up there. So, that is why your buddy needs to guide and help you from the ground)!

You have to move from one end to another end by holding to the vertical rope tied to a tyre. When it was my turn, it started to rain!!! I nearly felt down when I was grabbing for the third rope which was a little far! But I hanged on tightly to the second vertical rope, closing my eyes and stood firmly on the rope. They shouted for me to calm down and be stable before I moved on. I tried to do just that and then I realised that both my legs are shaking!!! Arrghh.. I learnt that it was best to make small movement as you walk so that it would be more stable!
But hey, I made it after that and instantly felt so happy!!! :D

But the very same colleague who were dramatic at the Flying Fox got some attention from all of us again. He refused to hold on to the vertical rope and insisted of grabbing the horizontal rope above instead. After much encouragements and promises to him, he still refused to do it properly. The instructor gave up and asked him to hold it as he wished! (as in the picture)

This was the last stage of the high ropes! Yeay!!! I did it!!! So happy :D

The top pictures were my breakfast, with coffee too. The rest are our delicious Dim Sum lunch, halal food though. I love the baby octopus, scallops and the shark fin soup.

My favourite Chee Cheung Fan (made of rice noodles with prawn n bbq chicken inside), prawns, fish balls and fish balls with tofu.

Fu zhuk with filling, small pau, siew mai and very nice Gui Ling Gou (herbal jelly)~

My buddy, team leader, team mates and I after the lunch~

After lunch, each team had to draw a game that we played and the 10 values that we learnt from it. Here was ours! :)

After that all of us need to present it. We have other indoor activities too before we have tea break and leave for home! It was a good team building after all. :)

A very good experience.

Good bye, Allson Klana Resort!!!

The team building is held at Allson Klana Resort of Seremban, which I think was a great place (not that I have any team building experience for comparison)! We reached there around 10.30am by a bus and a van, roughly around 50 people. The instructors started with some fun games to make us in the mood for activities and divided us into group of four. I was in the Green team with 12 members and the team name : Heroes!

This is our flag which we designed together but I drew and wrote on the cloth~

The 'Heroes' doing the war cry~

After all the initial activities, we checked in to our room, twin sharing. The room was rather nice~

Lunch time!!! It was buffet style, and I was tempted to eat a lot but then we have outdoor activities later! :S

My first plate, rather yummy~

Second helping, with the yummy fried chicken and saucy fish~

The dessert, a scoop of strawberry ice cream with some cocktails~ Yummy~

Our first outdoor game : Repelling! This was the game I was scared of the most when I saw the pictures showed by my colleagues who have been to the team building! Going down the wall from 5 storeys using a single rope!

But hey, no fear, it was controlled by 2 safety officer that we picked from our team members. They could control the speed of the rope. The instructor at the top would also control another rope. So, rather safe. UNLESS you bang yourself against the wall, if you kick with one leg instead of two legs!

That's me! It wasn't as difficult as I thought and I didn't look down when I climbed over the window, as advised by my colleague. It was rather smooth!

Gee! I have made it! My first small little victory of overcoming my fear~ It felt great!!!

The next game was the Spider Web. There were more than 20 holes and we have to go through the holes without touching the rope. Each hole can only be used once and it would be sealed if we accidentally touch it or after using it! We have 21 people and 24 holes! Ahh.. only 3 holes for mistake!

The holes were of different sizes, so the small people (ahem, like me) have to go through the small hole and big fella going through big holes. It needs a lot of planning as we have to move from one side to another, so if we are to carry people, we have to make sure some people from the other side is going to support them. And some holes for the last ones to go over!

And so the carrying begin! Two large fellas went through the big holes and we started to transfer people over.

Find the right hole for each one, within 45 minutes!

Keep your butt down! Some have to crawl over the hole which was too low!

How about me? The last big fella who was still on the other side! But fear not, we have reserved a hole for him! :) We broke the record of the last few months as we could transferred all within the period time given & 8 minutes to spare!!!

But the other teams were not as lucky! They were punished as all the holes were used but they still have people that wasn't transferred to the other side. Yeah, got to do Commando Crawl.. Yikes.. dirty…!

Next was the game that I dislike most : Treasure Hunt. I hate searching for a small clue and we have to run around after the 2 activities for an hour, with a lot of mosquitoes around! Yikes..!

My teammates and I~

After that 3 outdoor activities, we were given time to shower and take dinner. I forgot to take the pictures of my main course, coz too hungry! The first picture was my 2nd helping of dinner, with delicious SzeChuan soup, some fruits and desserts. The ham and cheese sandwich were for tea time.

After that we have the game of guessing the movie title! It was funny and fun!

Next we have the dancing game where we would dance when the music was playing. Once the music stopped, you have to stop! Phew.. it lasted till 11pm!

Off to sleep after that.. :)
