I always wanted to try these cute and creative paos from Mr.Baoz after I saw the variety from forwarded email. It is very famous in Taiwan and already made its way here!

I bought 3 from 1Utama’s branch (also available in Pavillion & JB City Square) and waited for about 25 minutes as the service was very slow! So much of heating/steaming each pau on request, which was painstakingly slow.

I bought the Tri-star squid roll,$3.50 which was pretty good although disappointing as there really wasn’t squid inside. Onion Chicken Baoz, $3 was mostly potatoes inside. Hmm.. I had yet to try my Viennese Cheese Baoz, $3.50 which would be my supper later.

The prices range from $2 to $3.50 each, with about 30 varieties to choose from! Pretty unique but then again, not something that you would be drooling for. However if I am to try again, I would try the crispy series or Curry Chicken Baoz. =)

Anyone up for cheap sushi? Probably not great quality but still OK for those who doesn’t have high requirement like me.

Sushi King is having the twice-annually promotion again, as most of you have already known : $2Sushi King Promotion Bonanza 2009 on Kaiten Belt. Yes, $2 for a plate of sushi of rice based!

Not too sure if I’ll have it this time round, as I have been religiously celebrating it for the past 3 years!

Anyway, the auspicious date is from 13 – 16 April 09 for West and 20-23 April 09 for East.

And for the love of coffee, I decided to get myself a decaffeinated coffee from Boncafe; produced and packed in Colombia.

Claims : Lowest caffeine content of not more than 0.1%

Reason being I wish I could enjoy coffee not only in the morning but afternoon and evening as well.

With my recent insomnia, I have even cut the coffee intake to less than a cup a day but my mind seems to be so active 10 minutes when I got into bed. Even without caffeine intake during the day!

I think I gotta do something before I reach out for the sleeping pill that have been laying in my drawer for a whole year, untouched; however tempted I am!

Anyway, I have yet to try it. It is RM9.20 from Jusco for the 50gm bottle which I think is a little expensive but I ain’t got no other choice. Though I would have preferred the instant 3-in-1 type as I am lousy in making coffee.

A cuppa coffee, anyone?

My friend asked if I remember the restaurant which we had our seafood dinner 2 years ago when we were in Langkawi. She said the food price is pretty cheap compared to the one she had on her next visit. She insisted that I should visit the restaurant again.

How could I remember a restaurant which I had only been there for one time with my lousy sense of direction and a poor memory and we do not know the restaurant's name.

Anyway, when I passed by this restaurant, I felt that it was the same one we went last time. I remembered seeing the 'Orkid Restaurant' before and it was in the same row. The restaurant name that we went was 'Yong Leong' seafood at Kuah town, by the main road.

My family seldom eats seafood as it was not as cheap in our hometown and my father wasn't a fan of seafood too. But my mum insisted of having them since we were there! S

o, yeah, after some compromising, we have fish, pork, tofu soup, vege and I insisted on squid too (my all time fav; the cholesterol level can wait!)! The dinner for four pax was at RM76, quite cheap and nice too. ^.^

My mum saw others ordering crab and it looked pretty good. So we came back the next night for crab, 2 plates of fried oysters (which I didn't think was good as it was too soft but well, they liked it), pork and vege at R M96.

The crab was very yummy and we enjoyed it very much although my brother didn't eat any of the seafood coz he hate them. (good for me, coz he is a big eater; less competition u see). And the boss was a little too arrogant for my liking!

But well, it was a pleasant 2 dinners. For lunch we went to a normal Malay stall and had expensive and not nice mixed rice (RM20 for 3 plates with a drink at lousy shop!). But I had a very nice young coconut pudding! Yummy yum!

As usual, I like to try out new places for breakie.. and this time, I went to Sun Wong, owned by Overseas Group at Jaya One. The theme is striking black and red! It is quite a big restaurant alright.

Actually I went there for dinner before and it was like other Hong Kong char-chan-teng/restaurant. I didn’t quite like the dinner as I felt that it wasn’t as nice as I expected.

However, seeing the breakfast set meals from RM5.90 onwards, I wanted to give it another chance.

But I guess, I just didn’t quite like the food there. Not to mention the awfully slow service! We waited for quite a long time before the food was served and it was supposed to operate a couple of hours before we arrived.

Anyway, I think the coffee was pretty rich and nice. But the rest was just so so. :)

I wasn’t a big fan of Miso soup before this as I felt that it tastes too instant. But after much influence for a couple of years, I have a thing for the soup now.

The clear soup with little pieces of seaweed and tofu. Yum. It could really enhance one appetite.

And thus, when I saw it at the new Japanese stall/shop Shojikiya at One Utama, I couldn’t help but to get a pack of twelve. With 6 flavours and 2 packs each at RM17.90, a tad too expensive but then again, it was product of Japan.

Just add hot boiling water to the paste and add the seaweed/tofu into a bowl. And hey voila, you got yourself a bowl of miso soup at the comfort of your own home. =D

This year Deepavali/Diwali seems to be simple. However I am happy to visit both my best friends’ houses although they couldn’t make it to visit each other with perfect good reasons!

This year, I became the volunteered organiser and sent out sms invitation to everyone. We met at Renu’s house at 11.30am and it was good to meet up with my childhood friends since… June. We were served a variety of cookies and muruku and next, the always drooling feast of tosai, nasi beriani, mutton rending, chicken curry and putu mayam. Yum~

Prem joined us with her sister when we were having the lunchie and she was getting married in December. All of her got an invitation at her wedding in December at a temple in Seremban! =)

And I insisted to take a group photo (for memory’s and blogging’s sake!)

Next, we visited Parames and well, this year she didn’t manage to get her Punjabi suit (I think she gonna kills me if she ever reads this). I guess it is the first year she wasn’t in her traditional suit! Too busy at the hospital, I guess. And I was very curious about her stories and experiences as a doc!

I had a good time taking pictures of her cute niece too! I think she just look perfect, like a little smiley angel which makes me very fond of her. Isn’t she cute?!?
 (a quarter chinese)

It was more of a catching up session with good food and best friends at Deepavali 2008. Hope it still stays the same when someone got married next May! ;)

Pappa Rich~

Breakfast is always one of my favourite meals as it is simple and light and I can drink my coffee or tea! Not to mention that I always feel hungry without food intake for 8-10 hours. Good enough reason, especially the coffee. Cool

Thus, I always reward myself with good breakfast to start a good day; good doesn’t necessarily mean healthy here.

The other day I tried out breakfast at Pappa Rich, nearby to Section 14, PJ. I have passed that new building many times and have been eyeing the new café at the corner.

The price is like Kopitiam or slightly more pricey and the food is OK. The ambience was very pleasant and nice. I like the white coffee which was thick and creamy! But the half boiled eggs were a little too cooked for our liking.

Overall it was okay and might return for second visit, but not so soon.

I suddenly thought of it early this October. It was suppose do be every Sept and March/April. But this year I didn’t hear of it. None. Have I missed it? Oh no…  O.O

I have been religiously celebrating it for about 3 years already, twice a year. And I just couldn’t wait for it to come again.

And then I do what I do best, I googled : RM2 Sushi King Promotion Bonanza 2009 on Kaiten Belt. Yes, RM2 for a plate of sushi of rice based!

And ah, I found it! What a relief. I suppose they have postponed it to October instead of the usual September due to the fasting month for Muslim.

After a tipping of PinkCotton from her blog, I decided to get Sushi King membership for Year 2009 myself! Yay!

And do not miss great event of cheap sushi. I will pounce at those yummy unagi and prawns and let’s forget about cholesterol for a while. It will be a reason for us to meet up again, me & my girls. ^.^

The auspicious date is from 13 – 15 Oct 08 for West Malaysia and 20-23 Oct 08 for East Malaysia. Can’t wait!

Bibi Wok~

What do you do if you are going out with a friend and you so wanted to eat Thai Food. But your friend insists of having Japanese Teppayanki?  No, you don't fight.

Instead, you can have the Japanese + Thai fusion food at Bibi Wok, at Bandar Puteri 1.

I went there a couple of months ago and was happy to see that they serve Thaipayanki at very reasonable price. I think the set lunch starts at RM9.90.

We ordered squid and prawn Thaipayanki and chicken and fish Thaipayanki set lunch. It comes with soup (which taste a little odd) and some fruits. They also serve a bowl of crackers which they charged at RM3 (I dislike restaurant serving appetizer which you never order but have to pay for it).

The squid, prawn and fish were rather nice and appetizing but the chicken wasn’t as good though. I would certainly go back if I am that area again.  :)

Chinese wedding is famous for extensive 8 or 10 course wedding dinner that was preparation was done months or even a year before the dinner.

A restaurant was picked much earlier by the family and the food were carefully chosen and picked. A list of guest is drawn, including the relatives, friends and colleagues and even associates. Invitations are sent out a couple of months before the dinner and it is crucial to response as they have to make reservation for the expensive dinner.

And it was a Chinese custom that if the dinner is stated to start at 7pm, digging the dinner at 8pm is actually quite early!

Albeit the much preparation, I still love wedding dinner for the variety of food, especially the usual first cold dish. Though I wasn’t a fan of the lack of punctual-ness by the Chinese which really a waste of time.

Nowadays, some youngsters are escaping the fuss of grand wedding dinner and instead opt for a simple family dinner. But I suppose the elderly still prefer have a traditional wedding dinner where they could formally proclaim the marriage of their children.

Here are some pictures I took during Yun’s wedding dinner. I only got to take those pictures as I was sitting with a table of friends. If there is any stranger within the same table, I suppose it wouldn’t be nice to take the pictures when everyone is waiting to dig in!

Cold dish, roasted piglet, steamed fish, shark fin soup, marmite-butter-prawns, mixed vegetables, pork pau and chocolate ice cream! Yummy!
