This is absurd.

Or when I first heard about it.

A Dell hard disk for a mere RM17?

God knows what is a Solid State Disk. Maybe He does knows. :P

Okay, maybe a lot of people do know but definitely not me. I am comfortable with the term external hard disk or thumb drive.

When a colleague of mine let me know of the news, just after I stepped out from the shower, I was a little doubtful. I think it was closed to 8pm.

Not even much interested in it. Even if it is a RM17 for a hard disk, a 64GB only. Mine is 160GB and I was planning to get one like 500 GB or 1 Terabyte if possible.

But when he said Dell made a mistake, my ears pricked it caught my attention!

I made a google for a quick and descriptive information about solid state disk but not to much avail. Particularly if I can use it as harddisk.

I made a google-image, but it wasn’t very helpful either.

But when I heard his urgency in asking me to place orders and that other colleagues had ordered A LOT, I’ve made up my mind to buy a couple. Yeah, just I case if I cannot use them or not compatible with my system.

KW who was also online asked his programmer about it and confirmed that it is indeed a crazy bargain!

1000 duly came online when I was placing the order and I quickly seek his professional advice. He said that I’ll need a serial attached SCSI interface to use it and not sure if converter is available. But the price is definitely ‘cheap like shit’. His words, not mine. :P

Thus, the order was made.

More discussion and googling, I found out that Dell made that mistake in Taiwan by selling Dell 19inches monitor at USD15 instead of USD228 somewhere at the end of June 2009!

Taipei - Dell Inc is expected to compensate tens of thousands of Taiwan shoppers after its website misstated the price for its LCD monitors, triggering rush orders from Taiwanese buyers, according to local media reports Saturday.

According to cable TV channel TVBS, Dell (Taiwan) has apologized for the error and will discuss a solution with the buyers.

“It was a mistake in our labels. If we have caused inconvenience to any clients, we are deeply sorry,” TVBS quoted Wang Chen, sales manger for Dell (Taiwan), as saying,

“We will contact these clients and properly settle the issue,” she added.

Reading this, I have doubts that I will actually receive the goods. Or not. Maybe a couple of coupon codes?

I am not sure. Anyone knows what happened to the issue in Taiwan?

I’ve checked that the  Dell - Red - 64GB Mobility Solid State Hard Drive - Kit (400-15600) on Dell website costs about € 496.94. Not sure if it is an equivalent product anyway.

This RM17 Kit - 64GB Mobility Solid State Disk SATA Hard Drive product was taken down shortly (around 8.30pm), before I decided if it is worth to invest more on it!

Anyway, it has been an thrilling experience; however bad it is to take advantage of the situation. A little mistake.

Wondered how much it would cost Dell. Money mouth

Whatever the outcome might be now. :D

Will I get it, or not? :D

Birthday

May this year birthday wishes will come true!

Mad About Colors~

Is
your life as colourful as my nail colours?

I decided to join my then-new-colleagues to the adventure of SkyTrex in Bukit Cahaya/Taman Pertanian (in Feb, another late post), when I barely joined the company for less than a month; remembering well the fun of team building in Allson Klana Resort, Port Dickson even though the Flying Fox scared the shit out of me.

Not to mention, it is a great way to know my new colleagues better. And also overcome my fear of flying fox. I wasn’t really scared of height, but just the speed of it.

SkyTrex
is a jungle trekking from the height of 3 to 22 metres from the ground with different challenges on the ropes. With 23 thrilling challenges (
some repeat paths), it could be quite tiring and yet fun.

And I am glad I joined it. A great way for those to overcome their height phobia and trying out something different.

The minimum height is 1.4 metres and takes about 1 to 2 hours or so to complete. Do visit their website for more information & better pictures.

After five days of long waiting and almost unproductive days, weekend finally arrived! Not waiting for the weekend, but for something else that get on my nerve and I should let it flow along instead of losing my head at other people’s slow response.

Anyway, I was glad to have a blast weekend or it was much better than the rest of the weekends (except last Sat).

Since we got free Genting Outdoor Theme voucher from Jusco for birthday, we decided to make full use of it since I think the last time I played there was almost 8 years ago, or more? The entrance free is already at RM38 for adult and RM27 for children on normal days. Yay, 2 free coupons!

Well, upon reaching there, it was quite misty and very cold and thus we hit the casino first. Ironically, ten years after having the ‘passport’ to enter the casino, they still want to check my ID. With RM100 as capital and betting the ‘big/small’ game (RM25 per bet), we managed to win few rounds and then started to lose to our last RM25! However we managed to pull through the last bet and then started to win again.

We walked away with 85% of profit winning and hit KFC. After all, my one year of banning KFC was finally over and I couldn’t wait to taste the sinful crispy chicken again. =)

By 1pm, the weather was sunny again and excitedly we went to the Outdoor theme park! It was quite cold and I wore my favourite white jacket and comfortable Keen shoes. Not too crowded, nice!

We played six games (Spinner, Tea Cup, Pirate Train, Boating, Flying Dragon, Pirate Ship) before it started to drizzle around 3pm again. So we bought a bowl of expensive Tom Yam instant noodle (RM5.50) and a 500ml mineral water (RM2.50) and had our tea time there in the park. ^.^

Then we headed to Starbuck for my free birthday coffee from HSBC! Before we took the Genting Skyway back to downhill, we went to the First World casino for a while, but decided not to gamble away our RM85 of winning.

After all, everything has been paid for!

A short relaxing & fun trip. Just what I needed.. =)

On the very last day, we checked out at 9.30 am and load all our belongings into the car and drove to the town. Before that we had breakfast somewhere near Cenang, just simple mamak stall nasi lemak. But yum!

We went to Eagle Square to see the must-see-big-eagle-statue and my mum refused to take photos again! Only my father posted as an eagle :D

Next we went to the shopping mall for last minute shopping before having quick and lousy lunch at hawker stalls in a coffee shop as my father was craving for his wan tan mee already! But he said the wan tan mee tasted like malay's version of wan tan mee and I couldn't finish my portion! My mum's tomyam was too sour and not spicy at all. Yucks too.

Our flight was at 3pm and we reached the airport around 1.40pm because my father was too worried if we would be late and he hated rushing. We had 5 minutes of massage on the massage chair for RM3. I love it as I my back was aching a little but my mum complaint it was too painful. Aiks, I thought I was the skinny 1.

Overall it was a good family trip which had me worry excessively if anything could go wrong. I was so worried of missing the flight or any of my plan goes wrong as it is practically the first family trip we have in years, since I was kid! And I was organizing for the first time.

Everyone did enjoy themselves. Yay! =)

On the first day, after short rest in the hotel from the island hopping, we went to the cable car. It is a must-go when you are in Langkawi, according to my cousin advising my mom.

My brother and I was happy to see, pet and feed the animals there near the cable car; rabbits, monkey, deers, turkey, small birds (geez, I don't know the name of those small green love birds) and parrot!

There was this cute, green, amusing parrot which wasn't tied down but it won't fly away. It was perching on the stand outside a souvenir shop. But the bird, Lisa was very agile and wouldn't let anyone touch it!

My brother and I also took photos with huge phyton for RM5 per person but my mom was terrified of snake! The snake was already about 75% of my weight, ah so heavy! The fella said it fed on 4 chickens a month (only 4? I doubted it!) There were also 2 trained eagles which you can pet and take photos at the same price too. We also fed the deer and hungry bunnies that were practically begging us for food!

Back to cable car. It was RM25 (or was it RM28) for adult but if you show them your MyKad, you can get them at only RM15 per pax! Good to be Malaysian, sometimes. :P

There were two stops at the cable car and you can stop for pictures or fresh air. By the way, my mum hate to be photographed but my father is very cooperative as he was ready to post for me! :)

There were suppose to be a bridge where you could cross at the 2nd stop but it was close for maintenance. We had green cotton candy to munch on at RM2. =)

It is my second visit to Langkawi as I have visited this island in Nov 2006, yeah, exactly two years ago. I went with my close friends back then and I found it enjoyable. Since my parents have never stepped into the island before, well, why not?

During the Matta fair, I almost booked the island hopping basic package as it was RM58 if I book on the day. But if I walk-in, it would cost me RM68! Luckily I didn't book it!

My housemate told me that it was only RM35 when she went last year and I couldn't remember how much I paid for during the my previous trip (coz I didn't blog much about it - only 2 paragraphs for the whole trip! - which I regretted now and so I am going to write long, grandmother posts for this trip! So bear with me! :P )

So when I was at the airport, this guy approached me and offered me RM40. I bargained as I have 4 persons and I got it at RM35 too! Yay! I didn't pay on spot and tell him that I would call him the next morning, in case I could get RM30 from other company. He laughed and said he would refund me if I got it at that price! Anyway, I did find a RM30 package on the last day, after the island hopping trip. :P

On the 2nd day morning, we went to Pulau Dayang Bunting (Pregnant Maiden Island, I think :P ), where you have to climb up the stairs and descend to a lovely lake. It was a little difficult for my mother to climb up or down as she always have knee pain problem. But slowly and steadily we made it!

The bear-in-the-photo-idea was stolen from Keone & coincidentally this is the bear that he bought for my birthday about 8 years ago which I almost lost and I was scared he would be mad but he didn't; and knowing him well, I bet he remember none of it. =)

We have an hour in the island. You could kayak/canoe or rent the paddle boat there or simply relax and dip your feet into the lake where there are garoupa fishes 'cleaning' up the dry skin on your feet for free!

It is like those fish spa in KL. If you buy some fish food and throw them on your feet, all the fishes will come swimming around your feet! It feels ticklish to have them touching you. My mom, bro and I tried but my father wouldn't! My father bought 3 keychains there (see, he is like me, like to buy small useless small stuffs).

There were many monkeys at the island too and one should be watchful of their belongings. We stopped to eat some breads and those monkeys wanted to snatch the food from us too! We fended them off with umbrellas. By the way, there are toilets in the island too.

Next we went to see eagle feeding nearby an island (which I forgot the name, or never knew the name, in fact). I was told that they feed the eagles with chicken skin! Yikes, high cholesterol, birdie! It was amazing to see some big, strong eagles swooshing about! Beautiful!

Lastly we went to the lovely island of Pulau Beras Basah (Wet Rice Island?) which is a stretch of beach with fine sands and no water supply, which means no toilet. If you have to do your business, you go to some bushes and do it there. :P

There is a small hut where a lady was selling some cold canned drinks and hot beverages
(I had coconut there before too) and chips too. Very pleasant and relaxing island with beautiful girls in bikinis as well as obese ladies in skimpy bikinis too! Ooops! 1 hour there.

You could go swimming, play sands or go for banana boat.

The whole island trip takes around 3 hours only, do bring your own foods. Wear shorts and sandals (and hats and umbrella if you are scared of sun like me). It was the first time seeing my father wearing shorts when we go out. He is always in his long pants! ;D

Thanks to Mr.1K that offered to bring us round Muar on the way to Yun’s wedding at Batu Pahat. I thought I have been to Muar before as the town looks familiar, at least I remember the bridge but I just couldn’t recall when and why I was there! Ahh.. my memory going down the drain!

Mr.1K brought us to taste the scrumptious food rojak and the cooling desserts that was so appetizing after a long 2 hour ride from KL! Yum yum.. =)

The place is at Jeti Tanjung Muar Emas by the Muar river (I believe) and it was quite a big park with many local visitors!

We strolled along the river, took some pictures and analysing the pretty strangers that hold hand, trying to sort out the relationship of 2 girls and a guy. Yeah, it’s pretty complex when 3 of them were holding hand together!

After that, Mr.1K bought us some famous superlicious otak-otak, prawn and fish flavours! Due to our greediness, I forgot to take pics of it! But it was really yummy!

After that, we continued the journey to Batu Pahat and I have to put on my make up in the bumpy ride car. =)

Finally, someone I am very close to was getting married! Or should I said, married! Yeah, it was my best friend’s wedding at Batu Pahat yesterday!

And thus some of my friends and I travelled south (a day trip) to celebrate with her.

It was a joyous occasion especially after the dinner which another good pal of mine and the bride got to catch up at the bride's house (while the guys sit back and listen or watch TV)! :D

And after that, just right before midnight, my friends and I travelled back to KL and I had to keep the driver entertained so he would be alert for the whole journey.

Reached KL nearly around 2.45am and accidentally washed my hair and I had to dry it before I slept. Finally crept to the bed around 3.30am. And I have to work today. (=.=)”

But I am working from home today, thank God. =)

Still, there’s plenty of work to be done today and a virtual-meeting to attend. (=.=)”

Photos will be up as soon as I finish my work, unpack my bags, do the laundry, clean my room and catching up with my much-needed-rest.

Meanwhile, let me crept back to work!   =(

Happy Crappy/Blue/I-Doubt-It’s-Exciting Monday everyone!

P/S : For best wedding photo, you should check out the wedding gallery of I Create Angel with many beautiful pictures!
