Are you tempted to look into others pc/laptop monitor when you pass them by? I try not to look whenever I can as I know it is very annoying to have others keep peering into your monitor, trying to see what you are doing! (=.=)"

In the office, I was sitting in a cubicle with my laptop facing inside the cubicle. Theoretically, everyone that passes by behind me, can peer to my screen without me knowing. I am alright with it.

But as I was always plugged with pc headset and constantly jolted when my colleague suddenly appeared from my back to talk to me, I put a small mirror so I am aware of those "visitors".

And soon enough, I find a colleague who loves to stare peep into my monitor screen almost every time she passes by my cubicle! (=.=)"

I tried to tell myself that it’s okay as sometimes people are just curious now and then. Thus the peep show.

But her continual attitude really put me off. Just mind your own business, will you?!? I have never even had one glance at her monitor LCD all these while (not that I get to do so at the first place as she was sitting at a corner). But still.. :P

But I also discover that another colleague of mine that have constant view of my laptop monitor screen from her cubicle rarely even glance at my way. Thanks for the privacy (even at work)!

So how do you deal to those uninvited-peepers at work?

P/S : Other than that, she’s an OK colleague.

: Matta Travel Fair is coming on this weekend on 5th – 7th Sept 2008 at PWTC ! Yay!!! Time to get good travel deal~ v(^.^)v

Once, after dinner at Taman Megah, my housemates and I visited the pet shop next to the foodcourt.

In a small aquarium of small fishes of the same species, I saw a few aggressive fishes were attacking a dead fish, eating the remaining of it. I think it is very gruesome and brutal! But I also noticed some fishes were swimming on top of the aquarium, apparently wasn't bothered by the activities at the bottom of the aquarium.

"It's a Fish eats Fish world", the thought cross my mind.

It reminds me of the office politic, where some of the superior tend to bully or attack some subordinates. Or it also happens between colleagues or managers at the same level to fight for power or promotion. But some people would remain unaffected as they do not want to be involved in any of it, they just want to do their job well.

The bully would be the aggressive fish and the one being bullied is the dead fish. Meanwhile those who couldn't care less and didn't want to participate in a politic would be the fishes swimming on top of the aquarium. :D

And, I want to remain as the fishes on top of the aquarium.

The last day of work, as the tradition goes, we took pictures with the colleagues. And I did the same too.

Our paths crossed in the company, it is a fate that we met but now is the time to say goodbye!

Here are the pictures taken during the last week in my previous company and some were during farewell lunches.

Lunch at Roma Pizza, Avenue K.

Some of my best ex-teammates before restructuring..

My lunchmates, we used to have like 10 people, but only few left.. all have left..

Various colleagues from same or different teams..

Teammate, bellyddancing mate, colleagues, manager..

Mostly my department-mates~

May our paths cross again!!! :D

There is this little pantry outside of the my office, where it is shared by few different offices/companies. It is a very small pantry, with only one sinks and if 4 people stand inside together, it would be a little too crowded. It is barely bigger than a home toilet!

And today at lunch time, the director bought us some satay (barbecued meat on sticks) and I wanna wash a small container to put the peanut sauce. I went into the shared pantry and was shocked by a man, formally dressed, sitting by the sink. He was eating his lunch, with the light off (but not too dark as there was light by the corridor)!!

I ignored him and wash the container and it even crossed my mind to think, hey, is he human?!? Or am I seeing things!!!

Man, who sits by the sink and eat in the dark in that small pantry (with no chair, table, probably only 6 x 6 feet in size). I quickly left after washing.

After eating the satay, I went to the pantry again and he was sitting,
resting there, with his back against the wall!!!

Geez.. he is surely a little too weird (read : scary)~ I asked my colleague about the pantry guy and he said he always is there..eating and resting after his lunch!  O.o

I’ve been busy lately. There is just so many things to do. In my head, there are many stuffs that I want to blog about but the material just trapped in my head as there are higher priorities of stuffs to do. It is rather frustrating.

Now, I finally have time to sit down and write a little.

First, yeah, my previous post was about the application for United State’s Visa. I finally met up with my new colleagues (and they look quite nice) and 3 of us went to the embassy to apply for the visa. Both of them got on the first day and it was nerve-wrecking to be the one without it! :(

The Indian officer was really horrible!
What a mean guy!
Why did he have to pick on me?!?

I went through another sleepless night and for the whole day; my head was filled with visa-anxiety, even when I was doing yoga! But hey, thank God I managed to pull through the next day!

Hooorrayyy!!! I GOT MY VISA!!! :D
But..

BUT..

Another things to worry now is getting the flight tickets as CG said it is running out. *
sigh*
We don’t have much time actually as we wanna be back to Malaysia by Chinese New Year which is another 5 weeks!

Anyway, I actually wanna write about my last day in my current.. uhmm.. previous company. I woke up on Friday and I really wondered what got in my mind when I tendered my resignation letter to my manager! Till now, I didn’t have the urge to leave the company; in fact I really start to wonder if my decision has been a correct one and if I would regret at the end of the day.

Whenever my friend asked me why did I wanna leave my company, I felt like I am being defensive and giving reasons that sounds more like convincing myself than just answering them. Which leads me doubt my decision even more.

Anyway, on the last day at work, as my day was extensively brightened by the visa approval, I felt jovial throughout the day. I didn’t even feel like I was leaving the company! I thought I would reduce to tears but perhaps I didn’t feel it as I was going to farewell dinner with my best-friends-colleagues. The gloomy feeling I was expecting didn’t creep in.

Which feels even odd! I am supposed to feel sad as I hate to leave.

I need a closure.

I cannot imagine I won’t be going to the nice pantry and make my coffee every morning.

Saying good morning to the kakak (
cleaner) who like to tease me.

Or seeing my whole lots of colleagues daily, looking forward to see some but cringing when I meet the others. Having whole lots of friends, like in school.

Or making the toilet trip with SS.

And missing my Belly Dancing and Yoga class.

And shopping during lunch and after work. Knowing that I can get anything at work.. even bank or post office.

And I shall miss them dearly.

I am back and it is really good to be home (that’s what I felt when I took my shower yesterday at our own bathroom)! I reached home about 8.40pm, much later than expected, more tired than I anticipated but much happier than I imagined! Geez.. I didn’t expect it too be this fun (though a lot of mixed feelings during the team buildings~)

The activities within the 2 days were very packed, we hardly have time for ourselves; except between 11pm and 7.30am which we were too tired to do anything but trying to sleep (trying because unfamiliar with new environment and roommate) and get up at 6.45am!

Well, it was my very first team building experience and it was really fun, with a lot of scary activities to do but nonetheless, the feeling of pure satisfaction after we did it! Yeay~ Of course there was team work, courageous and other values that I learnt, not too mention all the food I ate for breakfast, brunch, breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner!!!

Took many pictures of us in action and will post it once I have the time (after doing the dirty laundry, clean my room, attending classes, work, etc).. Meanwhile, sorry for late responses~

*sigh* .. Gotta work on Monday.. was thinking of MC instead.. /_\

Gee.. this is the toughest part of the game, walking on a rope and holidng on to the hanging rope with tyres at very high level!!! And I…. almost drop!!! >_<

There is endless farewell in my office for the past couple of weeks. Every week, we went for farewell lunches, some with my department mates, some from others.

The number of employees leaving my company is getting more and more and well, how could I say I am not affected by it? =(
Here are some of the pictures I’ve been taking for lunches or last pictures before they left:

Wish them all the best in their next job! Wish I am the next.. *grin*

A new culture of group events has started when AK joined us early this year and it continued even after his sudden departure. And for the first time a department was chosen to organise it last friday and my dept was the lucky one!

We made a short video clip for the event, emphasizing on everyone has a dream and to achieve it. So each of us said ‘I have a dream’ in many different manners and meaningful message at the end. We also printed a department white T-shirt and wore together on that day. So there was waves of whites in our department, yet some negative colleagues made jokes out of it.

Besides that, we prepared light foods for tea time and a simple game of hot potatoes. We gave small gift for birthday boys & girls and those celebrating anniversary in the company. It was quite a successful event, planned within a couple of weeks! It has of course brought all of us closer and show spirit of team work!

Me & my team mates, all in whites :

teammates

I am at office at 7.49pm today, second time of the week, after nearly a year I didn’t work till 8pm. But as it is requested by my management, what the heck, here I am~

Two of my teammates and I went to buy dinner and eat in the office just now. I bought for another colleague that sat in front of me. He requested for extra rice and so I bought extra big fried rice with fried chicken for him. It was such a huge portion that the rice box was unable to be closed properly. But surprisingly he managed to finish it!

One hour after dinner, I was still doing my work. Then I glanced at that colleague of mine. Gosh, he was sleeping while facing the monitor! I saw his head nodding off (we called it fishing) many times. =O
Man, let this guy go home and sleep..

But it wasn’t the first time I saw him sleeping. He was asleep while I gave live demo presentation on my project the other day too! I wish I could fall asleep as easily as him at night. Last Friday, I nearly dozed off for at least 3 times in the meeting! Luckily no one caught me, at least I think nobody did coz nobody was looking at me when I opened my eyes.. =D

nodOff

Something different happened at work yesterday. We were given an one hour off to watch movie in the office at 5pm! The selected movie was ’50 First Dates’ by Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler was projected to the wall in the office! (I’ve watched the movie before in cinema looooonnggg time ago, but it is really a good movie!)

We were given many junk food so that it really feel like watching movie : wasabi peas, bin bin rice biscuits, Twisties snacks, raisins, chips, etc (no popcorn as initially promised as the cost is a little higher than normal snack). And the lights were off halfway down the movie as they couldn’t find the switch! After all it is rather pleasant as the movie was hilarious, you get free flow of drinks and tidbits~ Yummy~~

I think it is one of the changes they try to implement, so that people would love their company more and make it a better place to work, more interaction and fun and makes us happier? I don’t know but two claps for their good effort! =)
